I have taken an extended period of time off from writing but not from my writers’ group. For me, it’s important to be able to help other writers go over their works before they have finished their book. It’s a very intrigant part of writing. Encouragement for each writer goes a long way. I’d like to share the eleven reasons why I belong to a writing group. Perhaps you’re thinking of writing your memoir, a children’s book, or whatever kind of book that interests you. These tips might help you and know there is a group you can go to for help too.
- Christian Writers Coup *CWG) is a first-century church—no big screens, no drums, no guitars, just each other’s words and Jesus. We meet first for fellowship. We share your joy. We share your grief.
- We listen to your prayer request. We trust Jesus.
- No matter where you are on your journey, there’s a place for you. We welcome poets, children’s story writers, and authors of fiction and nonfiction, and we have experts in self-publishing and traditional publishing.
- Even if you have only one talent, Jesus commands you to invest it.
- Even if you have not written anything, you can help others by reading their work and offering your feedback.
- We are as blind as a bat to our writing errers. Use our eyes to help you fix your writing.
- Evey year, we publish a Christmas Devotional, a one-pagedevotional you can write and send to family and friends. You get published, and they see you as a writer. Believe me, it’s magic.
- We have writing seminars led by guest writers and by writers in our own group.
- You should visit multiple times to understand our group. Sometimes it is dysfunctional, but you get used to it.
- If you choose to join us, use Times New Roman, 12-point type, and double spacing when submitting your writing. This formatting makes it easier for editors to read and comment on your work.
- We meet in the Faith Building at 6:30 PM, First Baptist Church, Universal City, every Monday except during school holidays.
